BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese official has urged authorities to learn from the just-concluded Asian Games in order to prepare for hosting the Asian Para Games, assuring that they will be "equally brilliant."
"Various departments should prepare everything well... to ensure convenient, safe and warm services for disabled athletes," said Liu Yandong, a state councilor, during her inspection from Saturday to Sunday in southern Guangzhou, host city of the 2010 Asian Games and the following Asian Para Games.
"United, peaceful, civilized and exciting, this time's Asian Games was a sports and cultural pageant," Liu said, acknowledging efforts of China's local governments and the "vigorous" support from friends of other Asian countries and international communities.
The largest ever Asian Games concluded with a festive ceremony on Saturday night, as host China showed its overwhelming prowess by sweeping 199 gold medals.
The Asian Para Games will begin Dec. 12, according to its official website, gzapg2010.cn.
